The pear-shaped pot stands on a footring, and has a long slightly curved, upward-tilting spout and a loop handle with a thumbpiece at the top, and a rounded kick at the bottom. The domed cover has a narrow rim, a ventilation hole and a knob in the shape of a flower on a stem with two leaves. the underside of the rim and the exterior of the flange which its inside the pot are unglazed. The pot is decorated with the same scene on both sides. On the right, a Chinese man holding a small cup is seated on a stool beside a table with a vase of flowers on it. A Chinese woman holding a tray of cups is standing to the left of the table, accompanied by a little boy. Behind them there is a tall three-legged stand on which is a green bowl containing scrolls and a bone. The areas below the handle and behind the spout are decorated with black and red foliage within two red vertical lines. There is a coloured floral spray under the spout, and two red leaves and dots on the back of the handle. The cover is decorated with smaller versions of the same figures, separated by triangular panels of black and red foliage.
