object type: Oval table made from cherrywood, veneered with sycamore and harewood and inlaid with an ‘R’ in the centre of the frieze. The front of the frieze contains a drawer with a leather-lined writing surface which is opened by means of a concealed catch. The right and left sides of the frieze also contain compartments which spring open sideways when the front drawer is opened. 
The top is decorated in marquetry with a chinoiserie fishing scene in the style of the French artist Jean Pillement
