A hand coloured woodcut on very thin wove paper, which is folded in half to create an inside page (blank). A barber with an over-sized head wearing an apron containing scissors and a comb and holding a razor blade in his left hand. The hand-colouring is applied very crudely. A verse printed below: \"I shave for a penny, for two-pence cut hair, \/ I live very well and have money to spare; \/ Since Cupid has lathered my heart with his brush, \/ And I fear lest thy frown my hope should crush \/ But if you smile sweetly, and say you are mine, \/ We'll be merry together, my dear Valentine.\" From a series of comic figures. The style of the woodcut in this print is very similar to other comic valentines in the collection which are almost certainly by the same hand. See also P.14345-R-32; P.14345-R-33; P.14345-R-36; P.14345-R-38; P.14345-R-39; P.14345-R-41; P.14345-R-42; P.14345-R-44. The image of the barber with the razor blade is the same but in reverse to that seen in another barber comic Valentine from the period held at the Museum of London. See 34.170\/1495, which also has the publisher's name, Marks and Sons, printed at lower left. The Museum of London example has been dated 1851-1860."}],"identifier":[{"accession_number":"P.14345-R-29","primary":true,"type":"accession number","value":"P.14345-R-29"},{"priref":"214314","type":"priref","value":"214314"},{"type":"uri","uri":"https:\/\/data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk\/id\/object\/214314","value":"https:\/\/data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk\/id\/object\/214314"}],"institutions":[{"@link":{"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"agent-149638","uid":"adlib-agent-149638","uuid":"7376d833-d0a7-3be0-916e-9c892b7a24d8"},"summary_title":"The Fitzwilliam Museum"}],"legal":{"credit_line":"Bequeathed by Dr J.
