object type: Comic valentine (Irishman). A hand-coloured woodcut on very thin wove paper, which is folded in half to create an inside page (blank). The hand-colouring is crudely executed. A male figure with an over-sized head, wearing a hat decorated with shamrocks and brandishing a shillelagh (blackthorn stick). A printed verse below: "Och! Paddy, you bogtrotting son of a [...] / Your mother's own darlint, though ugly as sin; Go back to the land of pigs praties and fun, / For a Valentine here you have no chance to win." From a series of comic figures.
