object type: Comic Valentine. Cream wove paper with an embossed border. At the centre is a shield-shaped coloured woodcut with gold leaf decoration of Punch and his dog and the printed message: PUNCHS' ADVICE / TO / PERSONS ABOUT / TO / MARRY. The 'shield' is affixed to the paper with a pink satin bow and lifts up to reveal a lithograph of an older couple in an interior, the wife scolding the husband, the printed word below: DON'T!! The inside of the card is blank. MANSELL embossed on the recto at lower left.
