A lithograph on a leaf of cream wove paper showing a scene of ladies armed with bows firing arrows at men. Cupid sits on the branch of a tree above. A letterpress title is printed below: 'BATTLE OF ST. VALENTINE. -GRAND CHARGE OF LADIES IN LEAP YEAR.' The image is by Randolph Caldecott, whose initials 'R C', are drawn into the image at lower left. The print was probably made after an outline drawing in pen and ink by Caldecott and may have been published in the magazine, _London Society_, to which Caldecott is known to have contributed in 1872.
