object type: Etching with hand-colouring on one sheet of white wove paper inside an etched oval frame. A couple wearing regency dress (the woman wearing a turban with a white feather) stand on a wooded path. The man points towards a church in the background with his right hand. An etched verse is arranged around the central image (not sufficiently inked at left side): "The path we're in leads to the church, / Do not leave me in the lurch ...". Inscriptions in graphite at upper left: "(1822)" and largely erased inscription at upper centre: "Trees like Country". There are two crosses in graphite within the image; one above the distant tree at the left side and one above the church porch. This card was included in the exhibition of valentine cards, _For ever thine: the nineteenth century valentine_, held in the Charrington Print Room at the Fitzwilliam Museum in 1995, no. 9. A graphite number "9" is written onto the album leaf in the lower right-hand corner, which corresponds to the numbering of the catalogue.
