object type: White lace-paper with central panel of white silk with a hand-painted stem and cut-paper and hand-coloured white madonna lily flowers and leaves applied. The lace-paper lacks its original backing sheet and is mounted onto a sheet of orange paper. This card was included in the exhibition of valentine cards, _For ever thine: the nineteenth century valentine_, held in the Charrington Print Room at the Fitzwilliam Museum in 1995, no. 40. A graphite number "40" is written onto the album leaf in the lower right-hand corner, which corresponds to the numbering of the catalogue.
