object type: A 'raised' valentine composed of a lace-paper frame decorated with fabric forget-me-nots and white cut-paper hearts with silver details at upper and lower centre. The frame is mounted with paper springs to a layer of plain embossed paper. A window at the centre is mounted with a lace-paper medallion with the embossed motto: 'TO / ONE / I LOVE' and a sprig of fabric forget-me-nots. A white satin ribbon bow with a scrap of white paper flower design with silver detailing is affixed at lower centre. On the inside right-hand page: an oval-shaped medallion with a silver lace-paper frame contains a printed verse: 'AFFECTION / Oh! think of me, dearest / at close of the day ... And thinking of love, and of thee.'. Graphite inscription at lower right: '[?] 4'. The inscription probably relates to the price Glaisher paid for the valentine from a dealer.
