The bird is drawn on a circular piece of paper which is affixed to the verso of the paper. A comic verse in black ink has been written below the mirror by the sender: 'While blushes deep bespread my cheek \/ And modesty doth almost stay my hand \/ oh let any pen my true thoughts speak \/ And listen with thy look so bland \/ I love thee with a passion nothing can assuage \/ Naught can alter but to be possessd \/ of thee dear stuffed with onion \/ and with sage \/ Then with what rapture would I rush \/ unto thy breast \/ X'.
