  <description>
    <value>A small 48mo-size valentine of white lace-paper mounted on the central panel with a circular panel of white silk framed with a wreath of gilt, embossed paper. The silk panel is printed with a title and verse in black ink: 'Forget thee, never / E'en Time will never from / my heart / Thy much-lov'd image blot, / Though every other dream / depart, / Thou wilt not be forgot.'. Inside on the right-hand page, a second verse on the same theme is hand-written in black ink: 'If oceans should between / us roar / And distant be our lot. / Though we may ['not' - struckthrough] part / to meet no more / Dear love forget me not.'. 'KERSHAW' is stamped at lower centre. An initial 'N' is written in graphite on the album leaf below the valentine. The names 'Edith' and 'Netty' are written into the album. These names would probably account for the single initials of 'E' or 'N' written on the album leaves adjacent to a number of the valentines in the album. The initials presumably indicate either from whom they were received or to whom they were sent.</value>
