A leaf from a Heffer's diary, dated May 1957. The verso has been used as a memorandum with three notes written by two different Fitzwilliam Museum curators, 'LAH' (Leonard A. Holder) and 'PMG' (Phyllis Giles). The first two notes mention valentines. The first note is written in graphite and signed with initials 'PMG' (Giles): 'The book of Victorian textile specimens ... is on the large folio cabinet with the book of valentines'. The second note is written in black ink and signed with initials 'LAH' (Holder): 'Collected 22 May - receipt with valentines wh. [which] P.T. thought we should offer direct to Laver's dept. although he guessed the answer wd. [would] be "No"!'. This is presumably a reference to James Laver (1899-1975) who was Keeper of Paintings, Drawings & Prints at the V&A from 1938-1959. Laver's department was known for its collection of valentines. title: note LICENSING --------- text license status: CC0 image license status: CC-BY-NC-SA OWNERSHIP --------- instutition: The Fitzwilliam Museum department: Paintings, Drawings and Prints STABLE URL ---------- url: https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/215445 TECHNIQUES ---------- pen and ink TECHNIQUES ---------- graphite CATEGORIES ------ category: album category: archive document DATING ------ creation date: 1957 - 1957 creation date earliest: 1957 creation date latest: 1957 culture: 20th Century
