object type: Incense burner or candlestick. Hard-paste porcelain of octagonal form, covered in a smooth sea-green celadon glaze.  The saucer-shaped sconce is decorated on the exterior with moulded and incised lotus petals and lines. The plain interior of the sconce is pierced with a hole in the centre and resting on a tall, slightly flaring neck descending to a reticulated, octagonal section, moulded with four lotus heads.  Beneath, two moulded peony lug handles protrude from a straight-sided octagonal section which rests on a bulbous octagonal body, moulded with lotus petals and supported by four `beast head' legs resting on an octagonal foot.  The octagonal base is flat, and unglazed.
