The leaves and calyx are finely decorated with a red and gilt mosaic motif, the petals are outlined in brown and black, and the stamens are drawn in gold. The cord is attached by a metal chrysanthemum fitting which is secured to the netsuke with three small pins and it has a hinged metal ring.
