object type: Netsuke: katabori: Fishergirl and octopus. Ivory, carved and stained.  A group of a fishergirl and an octopus.  The girl is seated and trying to repel the amorous advances of the creature which encircles her with his tentacles; she holds a knife in her right hand and an awabi shell in her left. Her finely incised hair is loosely tied back and stained; her facial features are stained.  The octopus has finely carved tentacles, hollowed eyes and dark stained pupils.  The tentacles form a natural himotoshi.
