  <description>
    <value>Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). A sequel to No. 16634 (See P.14680-R). The leapfrogging politicians are now on level ground, moving from left to right towards Hell and the Devil at the far right. Recognisable figures include Carlile, flying into the pit of Hell at the far right, papers flying from his pocket marked, 'Carliles Tracts ...'. Burdett and Cobbett are behind them with Grey and Hunt at the centre and Brougham and O'Connell to the left. Lord King and Hume are sprawled on the ground at the far left. Signed with initial and monogram at lower left: 'A &amp; HB'. Title printed below the border: 'LEAP FROG ON A LEVEL, / or / Going Headlong to the Devil. - Pl.2.'.' The publisher's details printed below: 'Published by Thos McLean, 26, Haymarket, May 6th, 1831.'. Printer's details below the border at lower right: 'Printed by C. Motte, Leicester Square'. Printed above the border at upper right: 'A &amp; HB Sketches No 126.'. The initial 'A' precedes HB's monogram to indicate additional authorship of the design. See George, introduction, xlviii. See 16671,_Catalogue of Political and Personal Satires_, Vol. XI, 1828-1832, M.D. George, published 1954, pp. 478-9. P.14685-R is another impression of the same number.</value>
