    <value>Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). A prequel to No. 228 (See P.14714-R). Based on the well-known oil painting of 1826, _Mazeppa and The Wolves_, by Horace Vernet (which was also reproduced as a print). King William IV is seen lashed to the back of a dapple horse branded 'REFORM'. Four wolves with human heads (unidentifed) at lower left. Two more wolves with human heads at upper right, one of which is identified as Wellington. Signed with monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'MAZEPPA (On a Grey Horse)'. The publisher's details printed below left: 'Published by Thos. McLean, 26, Haymarket, Augt. 7th. 1832.'. A small, circular blind stamp at lower left: 'THOs. MCLEAN'.
