This plate was produced for Horace Walpole's _Anecdotes of Painting in England_ of 1762 and appeared in vol. 4 within the section, 'Statuaries in the Reign of George II', p.100. An inscription in graphite on the verso: 'P [?of] Pl [?of]' is probably a reference to this location. Two inscriptions on the verso in the lower left corner relate to price: '1\/6'; '6d'. The British Museum holds a proof before the title was added.
