Half-length portrait in profile facing right of a tall gentleman with a large nose, wearing a buckled wig. Three brass buttons are visible on his coat and he wears a neck-band which emphasises his long neck. Title in scratched letters on the plate at lower centre: 'Slender'. The print has been trimmed to within the platemark and then laid down on a secondary support of white paper, a border in pen and ink drawn around and an inscription below: 'Favell - painter at Cambridge'. An inscription in graphite on the artist's board below: '?John Favill d.1804 aged 64'. This is possibly a representation of the character, Slender, from Shakespeare's _Merry Wives of Windsor_. It is not known if the portrait resembles John Favell, painter, of Cambridge.
