<value>Early Secessionist ware was decorated with both transfer printing and slip trailing. Both the transfer pattern and the tulip design here are found on other Minton designs.</value>
</note>
<note>
<value>Léon Victor Solon (1872-1957) joined Minton in 1895, and John Wadsworth (1879-1955) in 1902. From 1903, they led the introduction of Minton ‘Secessionist Ware’, range of vases, plates, teapots, jardinières and other items featuring Art Nouveau designs applied to new elongated shapes and accentuated by slip-trailing. Solon favoured sinuous figurative and foliate designs, Wadsworth’s tend to be more rationalised and restrained. 'Secessionist Ware' was produced until 1914.</value>
