<note>
<value>Samuel Cocks was a native of Norwich who moved to London about 1800. He was probably working as a pewterer from 1817-19. After his death in 1820, the business was carried on by his widow, Susannah until 1844. She employed several family members including her son-in-law, Joshua Watts. He eventually took over the firm, which became a partnership, Watts & Harton.</value>
