<summary_title>Hanna, Ashraf</summary_title>
</maker>
<note>
<value>Hanna designs his own white raku body. Containing over 58% molochite and high alumina plastic ball clay, this is medium textured, has very low shrinkage and is highly resistant to thermal shock, warping and cracking. The fine coloured slips are made from ‘terra sigillata’, a refined ball clay.</value>

<note>
<value>One of a pair of complementary vessels, one black, one white, by Ashraf Hanna (b. 1967 Egypt) who works in Pembrokeshire. Trained originally in drawing and theatre design, Hanna has worked in clay since 1997 and become known for his refined hand-built ceramics and kiln-cast glass forms. His vessels are often made to complement one another, as here, and feature edges, curves and subtle reflections of light and shade.</value>
