Bowstead graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge as Doctor of Divinity in 1834 and was a Fellow and Tutor at the College until 1838. He became an Anglican clergyman and was Bishop of Lichfield from 23 January 1840 - 11 October 1843. Three quarter length, wearing a rochet and black tippet and standing in front of a curtain, looking towards the left.
