The number written in pen and ink on the verso presumably relates to Vansittart's own cataloguing system and that written in graphite on the recto to some kind of count by curators at the time of the acquisition. Curatorial annotations in Nagler numbers 'Maria mit dem Jesuskinde, nach C. Dolce, 1768: rund in 4' as '28' with a reference to a Lord Fitzwilliam print album, 33.A.10, which once contained mezzotints. The annotation indicates that an impression of this plate was 'n[umber] 130' in the album.
