The inscription space is blank. A curatorial hand has added the the artists' names in graphite below the platemark: 'Sir Joshua Reynolds pinx' and 'J.R. Smith sc.'. Colnaghi blindstamp in inscription space at lower left: 'P&amp;D Colnaghi &amp; Co / London [?] / 13 &amp; 14 Pall Mall East'. Smith's plate was first published on 1st February 1782. P.65-1954 is a scratched letter proof of the plate.</value>
