DESCRIPTIVE DATA
----------------
object type: After the painting by Andrew Geddes, same direction and the same dimensions as the painting, which is on panel (1816; National Galleries of Scotland, PG 1443). Standing, full-length, leaning against the back of a tapestried chinoiserie chair, turned towards the left, head turned to the front but looking out towards the right. Right hand resting against his temple. Wilkie wears a damask dressing-gown and leather mules. The setting is presumably Wilkie's studio. A fringed covering on the chair, pipes and a vase on top of a walnut cabinet in the background to the left and a cane resting against a chinese lacquered screen to the right.
