The fish referred to was the standard dried stockfish or legal fish which was at least 57cm long or one ‘el’ of the Hamburg standard. Two fish were equal to one ‘el’ of home spun (wool cloth). The book was printed on the Bishop’s press at Holar, which was until the nineteenth century the only press in Iceland. It will be used for exhibitions and teaching, along with a dried stockfish, when one can be obtained.</value>
