It then hung in the library of the Freiherr Cornelius Wilhelm Heyl zu Herrnshim. When Prof. M. Jaffé saw the roundel he noted that 'the paint appeared to be on the viewer's side; but so are the marks of wear, pitting etc.'. He thought it measured c. 25.6 cms but as it was sunk in a wooden frame of the light box could not measure exactly.
