Shape: Beaker finely potted with a plain rim and slightly flaring straight sides descending via a carination onto a low foot ring base; wheel thrown.
Interior: undecorated except for a blue opaque glaze which covers the upper interior evenly but runs unevenly over the lower surface.
Exterior: Carved decoration in the form of vertical ‘tongue’ shaped flutes which run over the length of the vessel body. Above these flutes a pair of concentric lines has been carved leaving a collar protruding from the surface of the neck. A carved line immediately below the fluting defines their limit. A blue opaque glaze covers the vessel surface except the foot ring base.C.413-19911accession numberC.413-199129171priref29171packing numberISCER 552urihttps://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/29171https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/29171circular paper label with serrated edgeexterior basehand-written in indelible pencil314labelexterior baseinscribed in pencil onto vessel surfaceα.84.17inscriptionreferenceagent-149638adlib-agent-1496387376d833-d0a7-3be0-916e-9c892b7a24d8The Fitzwilliam MuseumBequeathed by Henry Scipio Reitlinger, 1950; transferred from Reitlinger Trust, 1991referenceagent-150552adlib-agent-150552566a6fcb-b8cd-3926-9bbf-78d0c4a5cc81Reitlinger, Henry Scipio195019501950bequeathedEntry date: 1991-04-2911001100CE1100circa1100129911299CE12991299potterreferenceagent-149652adlib-agent-1496520d4f90dc-b166-3d4b-b0db-25f4118b6e98Unknownreferenceterm-120959adlib-term-12095940562896-985d-3eb4-af91-41e244e9d22912th Century-13th Centuryreferenceterm-108851adlib-term-10885124e00e11-7f5d-3ad5-acda-1a5b13378105fritwareHeightcm11.6Weightg210Widthcm10.7referencemedia-15397adlib-media-15397f0b34ac8-5190-394a-b2e4-ce9a553f7154jpegaa/aa6/C_413_1991_281_29.jpg1heightpixels740widthpixels57016162851822731imagejpegaa/aa6/mid_C_413_1991_281_29.jpg1heightpixels649widthpixels50016162851822731imagejpegaa/aa6/C_413_1991_281_29.jpg1heightpixels740widthpixels57016162851822731imagejpegaa/aa6/preview_C_413_1991_281_29.jpg1heightpixels325widthpixels25016162851822731image0media
