St Christopher, bearded, wearing a long mantle over his short tunic, wades into a stream, which covers his left foot. His right foot rests on a rock, and both legs are bare. His mantle is fastened on his chest by a large clasp. The Christ child is seated astride the saint's shoulders, the left foot being held by the saint's left hand. The child's right arm and left hand together with the saint's right hand are lost. There is a large iron nail in the stream. The reverse is painted opaque pale blue and has the remains of a fixing. The pedestal was made separately from the figure.M.5-19431accession numberM.5-194330153priref30153external IDCAM_CCF_M_5_1943urihttps://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/30153https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/30153referenceagent-149638adlib-agent-1496387376d833-d0a7-3be0-916e-9c892b7a24d8The Fitzwilliam MuseumGiven by Mrs Sigismund Goetzereferenceagent-182630adlib-agent-182630e6f151d4-8080-3354-ab24-fa2aaef97ec9Goetze, Constance, Mrs194319431943givenEntry date: 1943-11-061500CE1500circa1500sculptorreferenceagent-149652adlib-agent-1496520d4f90dc-b166-3d4b-b0db-25f4118b6e98Unknownreferenceterm-106256adlib-term-1062561bd8ad44-09c2-3c55-825a-635e463bb56b16th Century, Early#referenceterm-106715adlib-term-106715490b251e-2de6-3f83-a13b-7f81a75bb458literalFlandersFlandersregionprobablyAntwerpreferenceterm-32234adlib-term-3223496ff7097-33c1-398e-891e-22b7705b69fewood (plant material)referenceterm-32657adlib-term-3265748738423-5a06-33af-bb0f-e0e48e864331paintDepthcm12.5Heightcm60.2Widthcm21.6referencemedia-15660adlib-media-15660a73392bf-1de2-3587-a757-118a2fa08dadjpegaa/aa19/M_5_1943.jpg1heightpixels760widthpixels49316162708591121imagejpegaa/aa19/M_5_1943.jpg1heightpixels760widthpixels49316162708591121imagejpegaa/aa19/M_5_1943.jpg1heightpixels760widthpixels49316162708591121imagejpegaa/aa19/preview_M_5_1943.jpg1heightpixels385widthpixels25016162708591121image0media
