<value>Silver was rarely used throughout Chinese history, except during the Song dynasty (960-1297). It was largely produced in the mid-19th century to early 20th century for export. Pond scenes, either with a turtle or frog on a lotus leaf, commonly appeared in various materials, such as porcelain, wood and jade and were used as scholar’s studio objects, including brush washers and water containers, or simply as ornaments.</value>
