        <value>Carved in Rome</value>
      </note>
      <note>
        <value>The identification of the sitter was changed following a letter of 30 January 1995 from Lady Walpole, Wolerton Park, who sent a xerox of a portrait of the bearded 4th Earl of the second creation of 1806, and a xerox of a photograph of him. As he spent a considerable amount of time in Italy, he seems a more likely sitter than Rev. Robert Walpole. See file for letters and xeroxes.</value>
      </note>
      <note>
        <value>When acquired by the donor, the bust was identified as Robert Walpole MA (1781-1856), for whom see Venn, 1954.</value>
