The other two sides of the lid have purely decorative intarsia work of a Venetian pattern. The plaques on the sides of the body seem to tell a story derived from the literature of the Romance: on two sides are female figures carrying shields or scrolls, standing by trees. At each corner of the casket is a twisted column with acanthus capital.
