<value>This is the original form in which Blake's Dante plates were issued by Linnell, after / Blake's death, in 1838. Very few sets seem to have been distributed. One / I have seen was sold through Edward John Chance, printseller, 28 London St. Fitzroy Square who / witnessed the agreement between Blake and Linnell about the Job plates. He took 25 sets. / This copy was recased with new end-papers in 1951. GLK / These are the earliest impressions showing much burr in the unfinished plate 3, which was lost in the later prints. / with nearly all the passages in dry-point.</value>
