The globular teapot has sides moulded with sixteen concave flutes, fluted curved spout and double entwined loop handle with foliate terminal. The domed cover is surmounted by a flower and leaf knob. The teapot is painted with four upright panels of flowering prunus and chrysanthemum in Imari style, separated by four gros-bleu panels, each reserved with an iron-red mons and gilt with leaf sprays, a band of floral meander in underglaze blue round the foot.
