object type: Soft-paste porcelain teapot and cover, painted underglaze in blue, onglaze in iron-red, turquoise, pink and green enamels, and gilt. The teapot is of circular, globular shape, supported on a low footring, with ribbed loop handles, and curved spout. The domed cover is surmounted bya flower and leaf knob. The sides of the teapot are painted in Imari style with four vertical gros-bleu panels reserved with a red mons on a floral or diaper ground, alternating with four panels with a gros-bleu mons, on a ground painted with a flowering tree or trellis or trellis diaper; the underside of the spout has a pink florette, with a rococo motif on the handle; the cover is decorated en suite, with the flower knob coloured in pink and green.
