  </publications>
  <publications>
    <link>
      <notes>Ref. pp. 201-45. The authors discuss the sources of cobalt in Saxony, England and Scotland, its processing into zaffre and smalt, and use as an underglaze pigment at Longton Hall and West Pans. They wished to discover if scientific analysis of the cobalt used on the porcelain could assist in its attribution to either Longton Hall or West Pans. XRF analysis showed that the majority of the pieces tested which were attributed to West Pans had cobalt which was either lacking or very low in bismuth. This suggests that it may have come from the Alva mine in Scotland.</notes>
