The jar is cylindrical with slightly uneven sides, and recessed base. The depressed centre of the circular domed cover is moulded with radiating gadroons, and the flat, circular knob is also gadrooned. A flange on the underside fits inside the jar. Round the top and bottom of the jar there are narrow bands of dotted trelliswork interrupted by blue oval motifs enclosing a reserved flower head. Below the top border there is a repeating design of long and short lambrequin motifs, and above the bottom border, long and short lambrequins of different forms. The cover has a zig-zag line round the edge with smaller lambrequins of a different pattern radiating from it towards the centreEC.36 & A-19451accession numberEC.36 & A-194540248priref40248urihttps://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/40248https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/40248on the basepainted underglaze in bluesun facemarkreferenceagent-149638adlib-agent-1496387376d833-d0a7-3be0-916e-9c892b7a24d8The Fitzwilliam MuseumGiven by the Friends of the Fitzwilliam Museumreferenceagent-149645adlib-agent-14964510925b71-6838-30f7-a8dd-b68a2afaa14dThe Friends of the Fitzwilliam Museum194519451945givenEntry date: 1945-07-2017001700CE1700circa1700171511715CE17151715factoryreferenceagent-157447adlib-agent-15744735297fcf-9b71-38ee-b76c-a87dfd161125Saint-Cloud Porcelain ManufactoryThe cover may not be that originally supplied with the jar, and the knob appears to be a replacement.
