On the reverse is an inscription printed in gold slightly gothic lettering, 'The St. Edward Plate\/1065-1965\/With the approval of Her\/Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II\/and the authority of the Dean\/and Chapter of Westminster\/this plate has been created in\/celebration of the nine hundreth\/anniversary of the Abbey's\/foundation by St. Edward, King\/and Confessor. Nine hundred plates only have been made of which this is number 881'. In square blue presentation box (A) , the lower part lined royal blue silk, and the lid lined with white silk, printed in gold in the centre with 'Spode'.
