IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 41485 accession number: C.1-1928 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Saturday 6 August 2011 updated: Tuesday 25 February 2020 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: Soft-paste porcelain containing bone ash, press-moulded, and painted over lead-glaze with a spot of blue, and yellow, yellowish-green, dark pink, purple, brownish-red, and black enamels, and a little gold. The unglazed underside of the base is flat and has a large ventilation hole with glazed sides at the back. The figure stands on a roughly circular low mound with an indentation at the front with rocaille edging, decorated on top at the front with three applied flowers, each with three leaves. The priest stands with his left foot slightly advanced, holding an open book in his left hand and holding up his right arm which is bent at the elbow. He has black hair, and wears a purple and white birth, a long purple gown with a white surplice, and purple cape with a hood and gold buttons. A black cross on a string of beads hangs down at the front. He has black shoes with white buckles. The book is inscribed 'Vanitas' in red across both pages with below, three illegible lines in black on each page. The rocaille decoration ion the base is picked out in dark pink.
