Soft-paste porcelain containing bone ash, press-moulded, and lead-glazed on the visible surfaces. The flat underside is unglazed and has a ventilation hole in the centre. The low base is roughly circular with, on the viewer's left, a large basket full of vine leaves and grapes. The young man sits on the basket with his right leg forward and his left bent at the knee and the foot resting on the edge of the base behind him. He holds up a bunch of grapes in his right hand and below it, in his left hand, holds a bowl with some grapes inside it. He wears a broad-brimmed hat, turned up on the left side, a loose shirt, an open jacket, breeches, and shoes with bows. On the ground beside him there is wicker-covered bottle.
