The slightly concave underside is unglazed with an oval ventilation hole near the back, and four patch marks. The four-sided base has two of the corners at centre back and centre front. It is domed in the middle and has a scroll at centre front flanked by rocaille 'frills'. At the back there is a tree stump with a branch on the viewer's left. Apollo stands with his left foot forward, right hand extended towards the viewer, and left arm extended behind him with the hand resting over a lyre. His head is turned three-quarters to his left. He has ruddy cheeks and wears a green laurel wreath over his brown hair, a yellow-lined pink drape semé with gold foliage and red flowers, and also a turquoise cloak held on the left shoulder with a blue brooch. On the viewer's left beside the lyre is a head of tools and a pale brown pallet. On the right there is a trumpet and a lira da brachia or a lute on a heap of books with red, brown, and yellow covers.
