    <value>Soft-paste porcelain figure of Britannia, slip-cast, and painted overglaze in turquoise, green, yellow, flesh pink, pink, red, purple, and dark grey enamels, and gilt</value>
  </description>
  <description>
    <value>Soft-paste porcelain figure of Britannia, slip-cast, and painted over lead-glaze in turquoise, green, yellow, flesh pink, pink, red, purple, and dark grey enamels, and gilt. The underside has a glazed circular ventilation hole off centre, and has been ground flat; two patch marks are still visible. The base has two sides at the front and a curved back. The edges at the front are decorated with rococo scrolls. Britannia stands on her left leg with her right leg relaxed beside it. She looks forward, and has both arms down, her left almost resting on her oval shield, behind which is a white lion, which serves as a support. She is dressed all' antica in a plumed helmet, a gilt cuirass with yellow tabs over a robe with a purple floral pattern reserved in a red ground, and a turquoise drape caught up on the left shoulder with a gold brooch, and red sandals. Behind her on her right there is a globe picked out in gold, and a projecting pink drapery. On the top of the base there is a pale purplish brown canon and three canon balls, a turquoise trumpet and a white trumpet with pink mouths, a dagger with a gilt handle and a green laurel wreath. The scrolled edge is picked out in turquoise and gold.</value>
