Lead-glazed brownish-yellow inside, and tin-glazed off-white on the exterior; base unglazed. The glaze has crazed. Painted in manganese and bluish-green. Bulbous ovoid body: flat base projecting slightly at the edge: short cylindrical neck with everted rim, the top edge of which slopes outwards; two strap handles, each composed of three strips of clay pressed together. On each side is a three-quarter-length figure of a bishop at the top of a stem, flanked by two stems bearing pine-cones. Between the stems are stylised leaves reserved in manganese cross-hatching. The handles are flanked by three vertical manganese lines. Below are two manganese bands, and, round the neck, a green plait between pairs of manganese bands.
