object type: Jug. Earthenware. Bubbly white tin glaze on the interior and exterior; base unglazed. Painted in dark purplish-blue and dark greenish-blue.
Piriform with flat base, cylindrical neck expanding towards the trilobate mouth, and strap handle.
The front is decorated with a purplish-blue `G' with a leaf in the centre, surrounded by curved squiggles. On each side are three sets of three vertical lines with narrow panels between them. The two nearest to the `G' are filled by a greenish-blue diaper with a quatrefoil in the centre and trefoils in the other compartments, the two nearest the handle by vertical chevrons with dots in the spaces. Above and below is a row of blue spots between horizontal bands, and, on the neck, two greenish-blue lines with a leafy stem over them, and a purplish-blue band next to the rim. Marked in blue below the handle 'V.FAE'.
