DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: Jug. Yellowish-buff earthenware. The interior lead-glazed pale brownish-yellow, the upper part of the exterior thinly tin-glazed pinkish-white, and the lower part and base unglazed. Painted in very dark blue, green, and dark manganese.
Ovoid with projecting base, flaring neck pinched at the front to form a spout, and strap handle with a thumbprint at the lower end.
On the front is a shield bearing the arms quarterly azure and argent with a chief of Anjou, within a bordure charged with pellets vert. On each side is a green saltire cross with manganese Vs between the arms, and, on the handle, three oblique lines.
