<value>For the linking of the mark on this jar and several others with Lorenzo di Piero di Lorenzo Sartori of Montelupo, see Documentation, Berti, 1997. Palmette ornament (palmetta persiana), probably a derivative of the pomegranate motifs on Islamic textiles, was introduced during the last quarter of the fifteenth century, and continued for about two centuries, the execution becoming increasingly summary.</value>
