IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 53261 accession number: E.24.1933 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Saturday 6 August 2011 updated: Wednesday 10 June 2026 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: Glazed steatite scarab, inscribed on the base with a standing male figure, who appears to hold two cobras. The inclusion of the latter suggests that the subject is a representation of a king or a god. The figure, however, does not wear any crowns to identify him. It is possible that the figure is a representation of Horus as a child- there are parallel reliefs dating to this period that show the young deity holding snakes. title: scarab LICENSING --------- text license status: CC0 image license status: CC-BY-NC-SA OWNERSHIP --------- instutition: The Fitzwilliam Museum department: Antiquities STABLE URL ---------- url: https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/53261 TECHNIQUES ---------- carved TECHNIQUES ---------- glazed CATEGORIES ------ category: scarab DATING ------ culture: Late Period DIMENSIONS ---------- dimension: Length units: m value: 0.015
