IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 55577 accession number: E.GA.1167.1943 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Saturday 6 August 2011 updated: Wednesday 15 July 2020 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: Very carefully worked and carved consistent rectangular plaque with convex top inscribed in raised relief with Men-maat-Re, the throne name of Sethos I, and a flat base inscribed in sunk relief with Sety, the personal name of the same king, and the additional epitheton Merj-n-Ptah. For this plaque it is possible to differentiate between top and base due to the indicated and separated base similar to the one scarabs normally have (0,001m high). The hieroglyphs are carved very carefully and in much detail. The plaque has a vertical suspension hole indicating the function as an amulet. Due to the convex top this plaque is very close to the meaning of scarabs (for the example of a rectangular scarab see E.117.1920). object type: rectangular plaque in green glazed faience, inscribed with throne name of Seti I on one side and his personal name on the other side title: amulet LICENSING --------- text license status: CC0 image license status: CC-BY-NC-SA OWNERSHIP --------- instutition: The Fitzwilliam Museum department: Antiquities STABLE URL ---------- url: https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/55577 CATEGORIES ------ category: jewellery DATING ------ culture: New Kingdom DIMENSIONS ---------- dimension: Height units: m value: 0.0028 dimension: Length units: m value: 0.0135 dimension: Width units: m value: 0.0085
