The dog is unnaturally lying with its legs stretched out behind it and its forelegs folded under its neck. The head is realistically modelled and the dog has short stubby ears. Part of the left hind leg is missing - it is pierced through the body vertically and through the head - for attachment. The animal has no tail. The muzzle is probably too long to be identified as an ichneumon.
